While in Arizona, I saw many birds that we don’t see in the Northeast. My favorites are the Burrowing Owls. The Arizona conservationists have built burrows made of pipes in the parks for the owls. They are relocating the owls to these locations because their habitats are being destroyed by construction. Arizona also has many different species of hummingbirds and hawks. Some of my other favorite birds from Arizona are the Vermilion Flycatcher and the Roadrunner. Usually Roadrunners are very elusive. However, when I went to Sabino Canyon, we were greeted by a very friendly Roadrunner who greets everyone near the entrance of the visitors center. My wife and I went to Madera Canyon in search of the Elegant Trogon. Not only did we find and photograph a female Trogon, but we were also pleasantly surprised to see and photograph a Coatimundi, We also got photographs of Acorn Woodpeckers and Western Scrub Jays that were abundant there.

Sedona is the place for landscapes. The red rock mountains are magnificent. The Grand Canyon is spectacular. A picture is worth a thousand words. However there are no words nor photographs that can match what you will see and feel when you are actually there at the Grand Canyon. My photos of Grand Canyon are my attempt to share with you what I saw.
