Every season is great for photographing birds in New York. We have our resident birds that are here all year long including Cardinals, Chickadees, Nuthatches, Blue Jays, Red Bellied Woodpeckers, Downy woodpeckers, Pileated Woodpeckers, Owls, Mallards and various types of Sparrows. During spring and summer, we have migratory birds.  The migrating birds consist of two groups. There are certain species that are just passing through such as the Green-winged Teals and Canvasback Ducks. Then, there are those species that migrate here and stay with us during spring and summer to mate and raise their young here. Some of those are the Great Blue Heron, the Green Heron, Wood Ducks, orioles, warblers, swallows and hummingbirds.
