Croton Point Park Wildlife

Croton Point Park is in Croton on Hudson NY. It has diverse habitats for attracting different types of birds. There are forests, fields, waterfront and even a beach. The fields attract many raptors such as Red Tailed Hawks, American Kestrels and Northern Harriers. Great Horned Owls breed and nest there. Screech Owls can be found in the trees. In the past, there have been Barred Owls and Long Eared Owls. Bald Eagles and Osprey can also be seen in the park. There is an abundance of woodpeckers such as Pileated Woodpeckers, Red Headed Woodpeckers, Red Bellied Woodpeckers, Downy Woodpeckers and Northern Flickers. Cardinals, Warblers, Mocking Birds, Blue Jays, Tufted Titmice, Starlings, Swallows, Phoebes, Flycatchers and Juncos are some of the other birds that can also be found in Croton Point Park.

The Croton Point Nature Center has nature and photography exhibits . Several of my photographs were on exhibit there as part of the “Hidden Critters Exhibition” there from April through August 2016.
