Painted Bunting, Prospect Park Brooklyn

The Painted Bunting that I photographed has been in the news all week. He has gotten a great deal of attention in the media because he is beautiful and rare, at least for us in New York. Painted Bunting are not supposed to be in the Northeast. I went on a field trip with the Saw Mill River Audubon lead by Anne Swaim. She knew exactly where to take us to find it. This bird is like a Rock Star among birders and photographers. Although it was 7:00 AM there was an audience of people standing around watching and photographing this bird. The Painted Bunting is not easy to photograph because they are small and stay in the bushes.
